📋 Description

• Code inpatient rehabilitation facility records using the current ICD coding version within the supervisor’s timeframe • Maintain the assigned coding schedule • Work with the PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager to assign impairment codes for admissions and newly diagnosed conditions • Provide backup support for timely transmission of IRF PAIs for Medicare inpatients • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information • Participate in continuing education classes, training programs, mandatory in-services and staff calls • Complete annual health, safety and education requirements • Maintain professional growth and development • Follow organizational and hospital health, safety, security and hazardous materials policies and procedures • Perform responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA, the Code of Conduct, organizational policies, and applicable laws and standards • Represent the organization professionally and demonstrate guest relations skills

🎯 Requirements

• RHIT, RHIA, CCA or CCS certification by AHIMA, or CPC or CIC certification by AAPC required • Minimum two years’ current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding • Experience with UB04 and IRF PAI • Current licensure/certification for the position, if applicable • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing • Advanced computer knowledge • Knowledge of basic office equipment • Appropriate telephone communication skills • Knowledge of ICD coding • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship • Ability to work assigned facility business hours, generally between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the employee’s time zone
