📋 Description

• Assist with the development of education and training materials • Conduct and coordinate training and development for Health Information Management staff, Banner staff, and physicians/providers • Provide technical staff training on information systems components of the medical records database system • Create and maintain department training materials, tools, and records • Conduct new-hire skill assessments, department-specific orientation, and initial task/function training • Provide continuing education and annual regulatory updates • Assess skills, competencies, and learning needs for new hires, staff, and management • Plan and coordinate orientation programs • Develop and maintain education calendars and continuing education/orientation records • Provide onsite support of trainees and act as a knowledge resource for staff • Troubleshoot HIMS electronic application issues and review clinical documentation for accurate coding, reimbursement, and compliance • Work with regional/system-wide teams to develop HIMS educational materials and promote standardized practices • Collect data, compile reports and graphs, and present findings at committee and department meetings • Coordinate and perform clinical pertinence and interdisciplinary chart reviews • Maintain current Health Information Management Systems knowledge and research regulatory guidelines • Work independently under general supervision while supporting HIMS, Financial Services, Clinical Documentation, and integrated healthcare teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field • Advanced training in Health Information Management requirements and systems and adult learning principles • Three or more years of work experience in healthcare information management • Ambulatory coding environment requires CPC or CCS-P certification • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification preferred for ambulatory coding • Acute care coding environment requires active RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification • Current knowledge of business and/or healthcare • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical record documentation and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations where applicable • Demonstrated education and training skills • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical records laws and regulations • Effective interpersonal and instructional skills • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills • Ability to conduct educational needs analysis and teach effectively to varied comprehension levels • Proficiency with common office and presentation software • Advanced knowledge and experience with healthcare applications and hardware • Previous training/teaching and customer service education experience preferred • Creativity and knowledge of adult learning principles preferred
