📋 Description

• Assist with development of education and training materials • Conduct and coordinate training and development for Health Information Management staff and other Banner staff, including physicians/providers • Provide technical staff training on information systems components of the medical records database system • Create and maintain department training materials, tools and records • Conduct new-hire skill assessments, department-specific orientation and initial task/function training • Provide continuing education and annual regulatory updates • Assess learning and instruction needs for new hires, staff and management • Plan and coordinate new-hire orientation programs • Maintain education calendars and continuing education/orientation records • Develop and conduct task/function-specific educational programs using varied learning and evaluation strategies • Provide onsite support of trainees and serve as a knowledge resource • Troubleshoot HIMS electronic application issues • Monitor and review clinical documentation for coding accuracy, reimbursement and compliance • Work in regional/system-wide teams to develop HIMS educational materials and promote standardized practices • Collect and coordinate data, compile reports and graphs, and present findings at committee and department meetings • Coordinate and perform clinical pertinence and interdisciplinary chart reviews • Maintain current HIM systems knowledge through workshops, conferences, publications, networks and professional societies • Research clinical documentation and regulatory guidelines and standards • Work independently under general supervision with analytical, creative-thinking and influencing skills

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field • Advanced training in Health Information Management requirements and systems and adult learning principles • For ambulatory coding: CPC certification or CCS-P certification • RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification preferred in ambulatory coding • Three or more years of work experience in healthcare information management • Three or more years in E/M and Surgical Specialties Coding makes CPC or CCS-P sufficient • Current RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification in active status with AHIMA or AAPC required in acute care coding • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical record documentation and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations where applicable • Demonstrated education and training skills • Medical terminology knowledge • Understanding of laws and regulations associated with medical records functions • Effective interpersonal and instructional skills • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills • Ability to conduct educational needs analysis and teach effectively to a wide range of comprehension levels • Proficiency in common office and presentation software • Advanced knowledge and experience with computer healthcare applications and hardware • Ability to work a generally scheduled 8-hour period between 6am and 7pm • Successful completion of a coding assessment after interview may be required
