📋 Description

• Design and build platform capabilities for Magpie’s digital learning experiences • Build scalable backend services, front-end interfaces, data models, and pipelines • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers on new and existing features • Maintain understanding of customer needs and identify platform friction points • Use KPIs, OKRs, North Star metrics, and empirical evidence to guide decisions • Own development from design through production and monitor live system performance • Improve the flow of work from idea to production • Write clean, efficient, and documented code • Build and maintain APIs and integrate third-party services • Design and maintain data flows across databases, event-driven systems, analytics platforms, and downstream consumers • Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging • Mentor engineers and contribute to their growth • Contribute to architecture, technical standards, and best practices • Stay current with emerging technologies and improve development processes • Pair with cross-disciplinary teammates and learn workflows during the first 30 days • Own smaller features or components end-to-end by day 60 • Help shape architecture, mentor teammates, and influence long-term technical planning by day 90

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience • Track record of building systems, driving engineering standards, and setting technical direction • Experience building for internal stakeholders and external users, including authentication, onboarding, or enablement features • Experience writing automated unit, integration, and/or end-to-end tests • Experience with data-intensive systems, including data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, event data, or data modeling • Experience leading the design or delivery of meaningful systems that improved outcomes • Startup or early-stage company experience, ideally as a founding engineer • Strong ownership and pragmatic approach to tools and technologies • Ability to explore alternatives and recommend improvements • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) • AWS, Lambda, Athena, ECS, S3, and dbt • SQL/NoSQL databases, including Postgres, Mongo, and Timestream • TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, and React
