📋 Description

• Work under the direct supervision of an Attorney IV • Support high-exposure files • Summarize discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of office receipt • Take and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses • Complete deposition summaries within 15 days of deposition • Conduct legal research • Prepare motions, oppositions, and replies to motions • Appear in court for law and motion matters • Prepare necessary trial documents, including motions in limine and oppositions • Ensure CCP §2025.340(m) compliance for video depositions • Attend trials and support the trial attorney, including trial research, directed-verdict motions, nonsuit motions, and direct and cross-examination of witnesses • Handle miscellaneous assignments as directed by Attorney IV • Work independently with minimal direction while managing a high volume of cases • Maintain regular attendance on a full-time schedule of at least 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week

🎯 Requirements

• Requires a law degree • Admission to the bar in the state(s) where practicing • 5+ years as a licensed attorney • 3+ years insurance defense experience or equivalent relative experience • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance law, tort law, evidence code, civil procedure, and trial procedure • Strong communication, persuasion, writing, and analytical skills • Ability to effectively conduct and defend party, witness, and expert depositions • Strong research and law and motion skills • Must meet established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status • Considerable automobile travel, up to 20% of work time • Preferred: law degree from a state-accredited or ABA-accredited law school • Preferred: 10+ years as a licensed attorney • Preferred: 5+ years insurance defense experience • Preferred: Insurance defense BI trial experience • Preferred: Significant experience in expert witness discovery and trial practice • Preferred: Exceptional communication, persuasion, and analytical skills
