📋 Description

• Assist team members in understanding and demonstrating skills required for underwriting duties • Design, build and facilitate learning and development strategies and programs for Underwriting employees • Create compelling, current courses and training materials • Conduct live instructor-led courses for new and existing Underwriting employees • Evaluate trainee progress • Prepare and organize course outlines, materials and teaching aids • Review existing procedures, tools and manuals • Keep current with training techniques and developments within insurance • Review and revise training content • Consult with business leaders and subject matter experts to assess training needs and learning objectives • Apply adult learning principles, instructional design theory, learning tools, industry resources, and measurement and evaluation methods • Conduct underwriting training classes lasting from one day to several weeks • Define instructional objectives and select delivery methods for adult learning styles • Build interactive learning experiences using case studies, stories, small group activities and reinforcement strategies • Measure and analyze trainee progress through interaction and work-product audits • Communicate observations to leadership • Advocate for employees’ training and informational needs • Develop online training materials, courses and tools using e-learning and other software • Maintain full-time attendance of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week • Perform other assigned functions

🎯 Requirements

• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) • At least 4 years of underwriting experience or 2 years as a Senior Underwriter, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is desired • Detailed knowledge of insurance principles, terminology, products and practices • Thorough knowledge of established Company and assigned department policies and procedures • Familiarity with training methods including self-study, group instruction, lecture format, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role-play and computer-based learning • Experience developing training content and delivering web-based training programs • Demonstrated facilitation skills in small and large group settings • Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail • Ability to handle multiple projects or assignments within given timelines • Excellent organizational skills and initiative to prioritize training needs and curriculum • Ability to establish program objectives, goals and performance standards and evaluate employee progress and performance • Ability to analyze and interpret course data and feedback and develop effective training courses and materials • Demonstrated analytical skills and passion for new technologies • Creative and innovative problem solving • Ability to work independently • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
