• Perform analysis related to client work • Review data in preparation for analysis • Check data for errors, consistency, and accuracy • Receive, reconcile, manipulate, and analyze data using R, SQL, and other programming languages • Understand, modify, and operate complex spreadsheets and database tools • Develop and use actuarial models • Draft written reports, exhibits, and internal/external correspondence • Present findings to peers, project managers, and client relationship managers • Maintain documentation • Check own and peers’ work • Undertake research projects • Perform other duties assigned by Actuaries and Principals • Take direct responsibility for client work and build skills through work shared across the practice
• Completed bachelor’s degree at time of application in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or another quantitative major • Passed two or more actuarial exams at time of application • Between one and four years of professional actuarial experience, including internship experience • Ideally experience supporting commercial lines pricing and product development, including rate indications, rating plan development, LCM estimation, experience rating studies, competitor filing review, or related pricing projects • Familiarity with ISO loss costs, rating plans, ILFs, size-of-risk curves, and other commercial lines pricing concepts • Familiarity with regulatory rate filing processes strongly preferred • Strong technical skill in Excel • Experience managing data and automating complex data manipulation tasks in R, SQL, SAS, or other programming languages; R preferred • Available to start within 2–4 weeks of offer acceptance • Quick learner who takes initiative to solve problems • Able to adjust priorities, accept new assignments, and balance multiple concurrent projects • Big-picture thinking to anticipate client needs • Superb attention to detail and technical accuracy • Self-sufficient and motivated to work independently • Enthusiasm for actuarial consulting work and a strong work ethic • Collaborative and willing to help where needed • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including explaining complicated technical concepts to varied audiences • Prior P&C reserving experience welcome • Proven programming skill with SAS, R, Python, and/or SQL welcome • Predictive modeling experience or keen interest welcome • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration support or sponsorship
