• Assist with projects related to health insurance, long-term care insurance, and/or predictive modeling for the Minneapolis Health and Life practice • Use data processing and actuarial modeling software to support client needs • Use spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to clean, synthesize, and analyze data and information • Communicate results to peers and project leaders • Review peers' work • Prepare and document project files • Assist with research and business development projects • Work with healthcare data using a variety of software applications • Balance independent work with collaboration across analysts, actuaries, and subject matter experts
• Minimum current GPA of 3.0; preference to candidates with a 3.5 or higher • Pursuing a degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or related field • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective verbal and written communication skills for expressing complex technical concepts to diverse audiences • Excellent attention to detail • Ability to learn existing processes quickly • Ability to apply knowledge and concepts to varied tasks • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Passed at least one actuarial exam preferred • Experience with healthcare or health data preferred • Working knowledge of database applications such as Access and VBA preferred • Computer and statistical programming experience with SAS, Python, and/or R preferred • Experience with cloud computing preferred • Ability to work independently preferred • Will graduate within 12 months after the internship from an accredited university preferred • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future
