📋 Description

• Lead implementation of MoveOn’s vision, strategic direction, and operating model • Serve on the Senior Management Team, report to the Executive Director, and partner with department heads to translate strategic goals into Operations Department objectives and KPIs • Lead and direct the Operations Department and a distributed, high-performing team across the United States • Develop financial sustainability, annual budget, reserves, forecasting, and analysis strategies • Establish operational and fiscal management structures, standards, systems, and best practices • Oversee budgeting, grant management, income reporting, and financial information for boards, staff, and stakeholders • Oversee human resources, organizational development, talent planning, retention, succession planning, performance management, DEIA, and workforce well-being • Supervise the People Team and oversee talent acquisition, development, total rewards, offboarding, change management, culture-building, and team-building • Lead enterprise risk management and mitigate financial, operational, employment, and reputational risks • Oversee legal operations, board governance, fiduciary duty, compliance, transparency, liability insurance, audits, and campaign finance, lobbying, tax, and charitable registration reporting • Maintain resource separation agreements between MoveOn entities • Represent the organization publicly as needed and perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years serving as the COO, CFO, or comparable role of a mid-sized multi-entity nonprofit • 10+ years of senior-level or executive leadership experience leading high-performing operational functions, preferably within political, nonprofit, advocacy, and/or social justice environments • Experience with multi-entity organizations, including C3, C4, and PAC entities • Strong track record of financial projections, forecasting, and business modeling • Deep experience assessing and mitigating operational, financial, and reputational risks • Deep understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, including embedding equity-centered practices into communications, culture, and organizational strategy • Ability to think strategically and translate overarching goals and strategies into operational objectives • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex organizational data into clear, simple messages for diverse audiences • Experience managing and leading high-performing staff across Finance and People Teams • Ability to manage complex projects and deadlines across departments while prioritizing effectively • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrating grace under pressure
