• Develop and implement forward-thinking internal communications strategies supporting firm initiatives and business priorities • Serve as strategic advisor and ghostwriter for senior leaders, particularly the CEO • Lead strategic and tactical discussions during bi-weekly Internal Communications Team meetings and monthly all-staff meetings • Advise the firm on belonging, anti-racism, equity, and inclusion • Develop and maintain M+R’s brand identity under the direction of the Senior Creative Director, Marketing and Brand • Align communications, programs, events, and employee experiences with firm values, culture, and strategic priorities • Strengthen employee engagement through storytelling, recognition, and communications highlighting staff, teams, and organizational impact • Lead communications planning for restructurings, new service rollouts, crises, and other firm-wide changes • Support organizational change through communication planning, stakeholder engagement, and change management strategies • Partner with Marketing/Business Development and People and Culture to align internal messaging, employer reputation, and internal culture • Monitor Glassdoor and other employer-brand sites and recommend responses to concerns • Lead and execute firm-wide teambuilding activities, all-staff conferences, leadership retreats, and other events • Create and manage content for Homebase, Broadcast newsletter, marketing digests, town halls, employee surveys, listening sessions, Slack, and other platforms • Identify themes, trends, and opportunities for improvement in employee and stakeholder engagement • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to support M+R’s key initiatives • Help communicate M+R’s brand, creative perspective, culture, and expertise consistently across activities and materials
• Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or another related field • At least 7 years of communications experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector or a professional services firm • Exceptional storytelling, grammar, and editing skills • Exceptional oral and written communication and active listening skills • Ability to communicate with candor, clarity, and authenticity; engage thoughtfully with diverse perspectives; and influence and inspire audiences at all organizational levels • Demonstrated experience in event strategy, planning, and management • Ability to manage event logistics, stakeholder coordination, communications, timelines, and execution from concept through completion • Demonstrated change management experience • Experience developing and executing communication strategies for organizational change • Ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty and anticipate stakeholder needs and concerns • Experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams • Proven experience collaborating across teams and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels • Self-motivated, collaborative, creative, able to work independently, and able to take initiative • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills with a track record of contributing to culture-building and employee engagement • Strong business acumen, relationship management, strategy development, project management, and problem-solving skills • High degree of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment • Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion • Ability to work collaboratively with honesty, integrity, kindness, empathy, and authenticity • Acute attention to detail and ability to prioritize time to meet deadlines for multiple projects • Ability to learn new skills and technologies • Ability to identify improvements and address potential roadblocks • Ability to communicate persuasively by phone, in person, and in writing • Ability to work within equitable and inclusive decision-making models
