📋 Description

• Analyze each medical record to determine which items will be coded and abstracted • Accurately code and abstract inpatient medical records according to work assignments and expected productivity standards • Assign ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedure codes and CPT-4 procedure codes according to national and departmental guidelines and the AHIMA Code of Ethics • Abstract and/or edit medical record data as required by departmental guidelines • Assign and enter charges for ER evaluation and management levels, infusions, injections and procedures • Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists to request clarification or additional record information • Maintain an organized system for personal coding reference material • Participate in educational activities and maintain coding skills

🎯 Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification with a minimum of 2 years coding experience will be considered • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required • One to three years' previous experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems is required • Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality standards is required • Minimum of two years of inpatient coding experience, including coding very complex diagnoses and procedures • Experience with Prebill processes • Timely communication and collaboration with CDI to ensure coding accuracy and optimal billing outcomes • Must have required employee vaccinations or lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella • Must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year hired and annually thereafter, or have an approved medical or religious exemption
