📋 Description

• Perform complex actuarial calculations to assess whether property and casualty rate filings comply with state insurance laws • Determine whether rate filings are excessive, inadequate, or unfairly discriminatory • Recommend disposition of filings to the Bureau Chief and/or Senior Management • Supervise one Senior Actuarial Analyst and one Actuarial Analyst and review their work products • Monitor direct-report performance and compliance with applicable policies and procedures • Report, analyze, and interpret statutorily required data and statistics for assigned filings and actuarial reports • Advise on legislative issues, review proposed legislation, assess impacts, and recommend statutory or administrative-rule revisions • Direct, conduct, and supervise insurance or data-related studies and projects • Respond to inquiries from the Insurance Commissioner, Legislature, media, public-records requesters, consumers, government agencies, NAIC, and professional agencies • Assist management with strategic plans and goals • Consult across the Office on actuarial matters and serve as an industry-operations business expert • Assist in developing model position papers supported by actuarial analysis • Participate in the DFS Disaster Response Team, including short-notice disaster-relief duties and attendant travel • Perform other related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Must be a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or be an enrolled actuary in accordance with Florida Statute 624.307(6) • Must be in good standing with the Casualty Actuarial Society and hold the ACAS or FCAS designation • Preference for candidates with Residential Property/Homeowners experience • Preference for candidates with more than five years of professional actuarial experience • Ability to travel on a limited basis • Subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing under the Drug-Free Workplace Act • Subject to regulatory responsibilities under Chapter 22A-16, Florida Administrative Code • Must comply with E-Verify employment requirements
