Native American Transformer Services, Inc. is a Reno, NV–based electrical services company that supplies, assembles and services large power transformers and turnkey substations. The firm provides end-to-end high-voltage work including transformer installation, rigging and moving, on-site transformer testing, FR3™ retrofills, repair and maintenance, upgrades (LTC and bushings), transformer oil processing, insulation dryouts, and related safety products and testing for high-voltage equipment. NATS serves federal government clients, large utilities and corporations and emphasizes experienced personnel, specialized equipment and engineering capability for managing large power projects.

📋 Description

• Provide engineering support for high voltage power transformer projects, including installation, assembly, oil processing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting • Review and interpret one line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer nameplate and test data • Support protection and control work on transformer installations, including differential, overcurrent, sudden pressure, Buchholz, and temperature protection schemes • Assist with relay settings review, relay testing, functional trip checks, and CT/PT circuit verification • Perform or oversee electrical testing such as TTR, power factor, winding resistance, insulation resistance, excitation current, and SFRA • Analyze electrical testing results against baseline and industry standards • Interpret dissolved gas analysis and oil quality results and recommend corrective action • Prepare test reports, commissioning packages, technical findings, and customer-facing documentation • Help develop scopes of work, technical proposals, and estimates with engineering, project management, and business development • Serve as a technical resource to field technicians • Communicate directly with utility, industrial, and renewable energy customers • Follow and promote NTS safety policies, customer site requirements, NFPA 70E, OSHA, IEEE C57, and NETA standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field • 2 to 4 years of experience working with high voltage power transformers • 2 to 4 years of experience in power system protection, including protective relaying and protection and control schemes • Working knowledge of transformer test methods and test equipment (Doble, Megger, OMICRON, or similar) • Ability to read and mark up electrical drawings and schematics • Strong written communication skills for technical reports and customer correspondence • Ability to work independently and stay productive in a remote setting • Valid driver's license • Ability to travel 20% to 35% of the time, sometimes on short notice for outage or emergency work • Authorized to work in the United States • Ability to work outdoors at substations, generation sites, and industrial facilities • Ability to work around energized equipment areas, heights, and confined spaces with proper training and PPE • Ability to climb ladders and transformers • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Ability to work extended hours during outages or emergency response
