📋 Description

• Provide strategic project and program support for high-priority work, including OKR initiatives and Conservation Portfolio Management priorities • Help senior leaders and client teams clarify purpose, structure ambiguous work, align stakeholders, establish governance and decision pathways, and translate strategy into executable plans • Define outcomes, success measures, scope, roles, decision rights, risks, dependencies, workstreams, budgets, metrics, schedules, and escalation points • Incorporate change management activities into project plans and support adoption of new behaviors • Serve as a strategic project management resource and coach • Develop, configure, and improve systems, tools, dashboards, and business processes for transparency and decision support • Coordinate execution across functions and identify risks, dependencies, and blockers • Build governance rhythms, sponsor decision points, and go/no-go decisions into project plans • Support risk management, issue resolution, conflict management, decision facilitation, and complex problem-solving • Apply organizationally approved program, project, and change management methodologies and processes • Provide project management guidance, coaching, training, and expertise to staff and project managers • Consult with client teams on compliance with organizational commitments, policies, procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements • Manage project budgets and assist with budget development • Coach client teams managing multiple complex projects, including project teams, deadlines, and accountability • Develop and implement the organization’s project management excellence initiative • Coordinate cross-functional, cross-divisional, cross-geography, and cross-organizational teams • Occasionally travel and work long, flexible hours, including outside normal business hours when supporting teams in other time zones

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience or equivalent combination • 5 years of project management experience or 3 years acting as a project lead • Completed coursework or other training on project management principles • Direct experience managing and tracking multiple projects and implementing complex processes • Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff • Experience managing scheduling and logistical aspects of medium to large projects • Experience using and consulting on project management techniques and tools • Experience working with a highly matrixed, decentralized, and collaborative organization • Experience meeting time-sensitive deadlines • Experience training staff on engaging effectively with internal and external parties • Critical analytical thinking and excellent English writing skills • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, influence, and persuasion without direct authority • Experience translating ambiguous objectives into outcomes, decision points, workplans, governance structures, and delivery pathways • Experience facilitating alignment among senior leaders, sponsors, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders • Experience identifying and managing system-level risks, dependencies, trade-offs, escalation needs, and organizational implications • Experience connecting project or program execution to strategic outcomes, benefits realization, change adoption, portfolio visibility, or enterprise priorities • Ability to use project management software such as Smartsheet or equivalent, or quickly learn new software • Desired: Credentialed certification in Highly Effective Teams (HET), PMP, or equivalent program • Desired: Experience applying Change Management best practices or partnering with a Change Manager • Desired: Familiarity with Organizational Change Management practices, models, and deliverables • Desired: Change Management certification, designation, or formal education/training • Ability to write and speak a language other than English, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Chinese, highly desirable • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience • NGO experience • Ability to quickly gain fluency in the client’s global or Business Unit strategy • Familiarity with business, governmental, and/or environmental policy and practices related to the area of focus • Experience supervising interns and/or volunteers • Ability to develop and drive new ideas and approaches • Proficiency interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals • Must meet The Nature Conservancy’s background screening requirements
