📋 Description

• Prepare complex technical legal documents, including indictments, arrest warrants, motions, orders, plea agreements, subpoenas, and legal memoranda. • Obtain information from criminal case files, law enforcement agencies, and other sources for legal documents. • Ensure recurring legal documents conform to local court rules and required style and format. • Assist attorneys with trial preparation by compiling trial and witness notebooks, organizing exhibits, assembling jury instructions, and compiling witness and exhibit lists. • Coordinate with the victim/witness specialist regarding victims’ rights and services responsibilities. • Verify legal citations and statutory references using Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis. • Proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs. • Electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using CM/ECF. • Develop tables of contents and indices for briefs and list cited cases and references. • Compose correspondence concerning court orders, extensions, case developments, and defendant-attorney notifications. • Scan, input, link, upload, and download case materials in electronic discovery databases. • Manage discovery processing and production, including Bates-stamping and redacting materials using Adobe Acrobat and potentially IPRO Eclipse. • Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned AUSA. • Maintain electronic case files and enter data in the case management system. • Calendar deadlines using MS Outlook and prepare case-opening and conflict-of-interest forms. • Prepare files for closing and ensure required case materials and approvals are included. • Collate pleadings for next-day hearings after checking court calendars. • Perform docketing duties, track filings, generate reports, analyze case-management data, and reconcile inconsistencies. • Respond to email and telephone inquiries and provide information about pending and closed matters and office procedures.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum DOJ MBI clearance required to start. • Service Contract Act-covered position. • Proficiency with Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis for legal research and citation verification. • Proficiency with CM/ECF for electronic court filing. • Proficiency with electronic discovery databases and discovery processing and production. • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat for Bates-stamping and redaction. • May use IPRO Eclipse for discovery processing. • Working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized legal terminology. • Knowledge of local court rules and rules governing legal-document style and format. • Ability to use case management systems for docketing, searches, reports, data analysis, and reconciliation. • Ability to use MS Outlook for calendaring deadlines. • Ability to handle criminal case files, investigative materials, discovery, grand jury materials, transcripts, and related legal documentation. • Ability to travel locally up to 10%.
