📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer at Nextdoor, you’ll join a focused team of developers, product managers, and designers who are passionate about using technology to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighbor they can rely on. • You will have the opportunity to learn from your co-workers and teach them. • We believe in empowering our teams to own all aspects of bringing Nextdoor to life. • In addition to writing code, you’ll have the opportunity to help define the features that we build. • Your responsibilities will include: • Backend development in a variety of languages/frameworks including: • Python/Django • Kotlin / JVM • SQL • GraphQL • Redis • Postgres • Kafka • AWS • Collaborating with product management, data science, and design to ensure we build the right things to maximize impact on neighbors. • Working with other engineering teams in Toronto, San Francisco and beyond • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team building exercises • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor’s company culture.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience • Self-starter who thrives in an ambiguous environment and focuses on delivering impact for our neighbors • Strong coding abilities in at least one language. Python or Kotlin experience preferred. • Experience building and deploying flexible backend systems at scale • Strong collaboration and communication skills • Strong desire to learn about new technologies and systems • Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies to reimagine how work gets done
