📋 Description

• Influence critical architectural decisions and oversee implementation of complex technical solutions • Apply system design expertise to ensure long-term sustainability and scalability • Balance technical debt, performance, and business needs • Make high-impact technical choices with minimal oversight • Evaluate trade-offs and set direction across the technical domain • Partner with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams • Align technical decisions and ensure solutions are practical and forward-looking • Mentor and elevate engineers across the organization • Establish technical standards and guide engineering best practices • Own complex, multi-team, large-scale initiatives • Identify challenges, drive resolutions, and incorporate customer support and operational data • Champion and implement quality assurance practices • Use AI tools in daily workflow and help the team adopt AI-assisted practices • Design and develop high-availability software systems supporting global operations • Deliver mission-critical services that help customers manage, protect, and maintain endpoints and servers • Perform other duties as needed

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of Java software development, particularly for product applications • 5+ years designing and operating highly scalable systems • Proven experience solving complex system design challenges at scale, including identifying bottlenecks, quantifying improvements (throughput/latency), and clearly articulating personal contributions • Hands-on production experience implementing distributed-systems patterns such as Saga, CQRS, outbox, circuit breaker, bulkhead, event sourcing, and idempotency keys • Experience handling partial failures and building compensation logic • Expertise in API design and RESTful services, with experience in Spring, Spring Boot, or Jersey • Experience integrating APIs, webhooks, and third-party platforms • Experience designing extensible integration architectures • Proficiency in relational database design and development, including schema and data modeling, normalization vs. denormalization, indexing and partitioning, and efficient querying of large tables • Experience debugging complex database issues, including performance, data integrity, and migrations • Experience evaluating relational vs. non-relational stores • Strong command of object-oriented programming design principles and practices • In-depth knowledge of quality testing practices • Active, practical use of AI tools across coding, testing, debugging, and code review • Sound approach to validating AI-generated code before it ships • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience • Must reside in the USA and one of the listed eligible states • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
