NMDP is a nonprofit organization (formerly Be The Match) that operates the national blood stem cell donor registry and coordinates cell therapy to treat blood cancers and other blood disorders. It recruits and registers donors, matches donors to patients, facilitates transplants, provides patient support and financial assistance, conducts and funds clinical research and trials, and leads advocacy and fundraising to expand access to life‑saving cell therapies.

📋 Description

• Coordinate all aspects of managing donors through the workup process • Assess donor emotional well-being, needs, concerns, and donation impact on donors and families • Schedule and conduct donor information sessions • Manage physical examinations, medical clearance, donor suitability, and eligibility processes • Coordinate blood stem cell and marrow donation activities, blood sample and autologous blood collections, prescriptions, and infectious disease marker samples • Communicate case progress with Case Managers and donors • Complete required documentation, case forms, and paperwork within designated timelines • Establish and work with third-party physical examination sites and external agencies administering filgrastim • Contact donors at designated time points to assess recovery, arrange blood samples, and determine need for physician intervention • Remove donation barriers, resolve issues, conduct contingency planning, and manage adverse events • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with NMDP policies and requirements • Facilitate donor-recipient communication and information exchange while monitoring confidentiality • Perform workup and collection activities under Investigational New Drug or research protocols • Train third-party providers performing protocol activities when required • Implement continuous process improvement strategies and systems • Attend NMDP meetings and trainings; some travel may be required • Maintain current operational and industry knowledge • Comply with SOPs, NMDP standards, CFR, FDA guidance, OSHA guidelines, and applicable laws • Collaborate with team members to deliver optimal donor experiences and meet transplant center and patient expectations • Participate in shared team responsibilities, staff backup, NMDP project teams, and other assigned duties • Perform core duties in Spanish, tailor messaging to Spanish-speaking populations, and provide bilingual subject-matter expertise, translation support, proofreading, and donor-call assistance

🎯 Requirements

• Ability to flex working hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to accurately and efficiently complete sensitive data forms • Well-developed interpersonal skills with people from different cultures and styles • Advanced written and oral communication skills for discussing sensitive information • Strong customer service, active listening, and empathy skills • Ability to learn medical terminology and explain complex medical concepts clearly • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, or equivalent education and/or experience substitution • Three years of experience interacting with patients, clients, or customers in a healthcare, nonprofit, or business setting • Availability for occasional overnight travel, up to two nights per year • Fluency in Spanish beyond conversational level, including ability to convey complex medical information and advanced oral and written communication • Understanding of Spanish grammar • Knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures • Preferred: medical terminology, case-note documentation, and medical histories • Preferred: patient interaction or care experience in a healthcare setting • Preferred: experience in regulated environments and knowledge of GTP, GMP, and GDP
