• Plan, schedule, and route import and export shipments • Monitor traffic flow to and from foreign destinations • Coordinate customs entry declarations with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies • Verify customs and import business, entry transactions, and documentation for accuracy • Maintain compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing imported and exported products • Assign accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes to imported and exported goods • Review technical specifications, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and product literature for classification • Research and apply General Rules of Interpretation, Explanatory Notes, and Customs rulings • Maintain rationales and records for classification decisions to support customs audits and inquiries • Provide technical guidance on HTS classification, customs valuation, preferential origin determinations, duty deferral programs, customs declaration, and clearance • Review customs entry documentation before presentation to U.S. Customs • Interface with the U.S. customs broker and coordinate international shipment delivery • Maintain required records according to company policy and U.S. government regulations • Support import compliance assessments • Execute export and import licensing activities • Develop global trade compliance solutions and streamline customs data management • Research and resolve customer or supplier issues • Engage with worldwide import/export operations and organizations • Process import shipments and deliveries within internal customer deadlines • Support trade trainings • Process vendor invoices and report post-entry amendments • Audit import files for accuracy and completeness • Monitor forwarder performance and provide feedback • Support export personnel and processes to secure required documentation and data • Support other Traffic and administrative functions as required
• Bachelor's with 5 years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD and 1 year experience in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes to imported and exported goods • Valid U.S. Customs Broker License • Minimum of 5 years work experience with CBP in customs brokerage, freight-forwarder, or large importer • Ability to interpret US Harmonized Tariff Schedule along with very good understanding of chapter and explanatory notes, and ability to support HTS classification • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance and Special Programs Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions • Defense industry experience preferred • Active U.S. Government DoD security clearance at the Secret level preferred
