• Elevate the Customer Engagement organization and guide the regional team toward organizational goals • Develop and implement the Regional Customer Engagement Strategy • Collaborate with Marketing, Medical, Patient Services, and Market Access • Oversee and communicate key performance indicators, address underperformance, and replicate regional and national successes • Build diverse teams through talent acquisition, development, and succession planning • Deliver regional sales targets while collaborating nationally • Establish team accountability, communicate and supervise KPIs, and engage all performance levels • Foster a collective vision, set clear expectations, empower team members, and improve processes • Create, execute, and oversee a regional business plan focused on customer needs • Partner with Area Business Leaders and cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience and increase product demand among HCPs, key accounts, and Systems of Care • Participate in the national leadership team to enhance regional capabilities, business performance, team growth, and organizational culture • Ensure team activities comply with the Novartis Code of Ethics and applicable policies and procedures • Promote regional budget allocation and optimize use of strategic face-to-face and omnichannel resources • Foster an environment supporting ideas, collaboration, experimentation, and learning from failures • Create development plans, nurture team growth, and improve performance • Use analytics platforms to guide decisions and identify risks and opportunities
• Bachelor's degree required from 4-year college or university • 10+ years' experience in commercial pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed sales teams, or other complex sales environments • 5+ years' experience as a first-line sales manager • Strong critical thinking and enterprise attitude • Experience managing field organizations through change, innovation, or growth is highly valued • Demonstrated success driving sales performance, leading cross-functional teams, and executing strategy within matrixed, multi-regional environments • Proven track record attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent and building dedicated teams • Strong cross-functional leadership abilities • Experience building and completing business and incentive plans in sophisticated sales environments • Operational skills, financial and business acumen, strategic and analytical thinking, and budget management experience • Must reside within the region or within reasonable commuting distance to and from a metropolitan airport • Ability to travel 60–80% over a broad geography • Ability to drive and/or fly within the territory • Must have a valid, fully valid, and unrestricted driver's license • Proven leadership as a second-line sales manager is desirable • Cross-functional experience in market access, reimbursement, or account management is desirable • Understanding of payer landscapes, buy and bill, and specialty pharmacy is desirable • Must successfully complete required initial training for field roles with a dedicated training period
