• Create impact by advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory to improve patient outcomes • Demonstrate therapeutic expertise and understand territory and market influences • Engage scientifically with healthcare providers and medical experts • Manage and develop the assigned territory and execute activities aligned with medical strategy • Collect impactful and actionable insights to inform and shape medical strategy • Establish and build professional relationships with healthcare providers and thought leaders • Conduct customer engagements involving emerging data, clinical trials, patient journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, disease-state and product education, adverse-event capture, and medical insights • Identify, map, and plan medical engagements and key accounts • Identify stakeholders influencing the patient journey and disease space • Develop education, engagement, and partnership strategies • Identify partnership opportunities with academic centers, centers of excellence, and systems of care • Identify opportunities for healthcare-provider involvement in publications and clinical trials • Collaborate internally to advance therapeutic-area, clinical, and product goals • Provide medical support for company-sponsored clinical trials • Work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations • Collaborate with HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, and sales colleagues • Serve as a medical resource to customers and internal colleagues • Maintain knowledge of internal policies and external regulations • Complete administrative responsibilities and training, including Veeva CRM, email, voicemail, expense reports, and compliance modules • Profile core customers and maintain current CRM information • Champion emerging responsibilities as strategic priorities and territory needs evolve • Drive personal and professional development
• Graduate degree in science or healthcare required • Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines • Manager level: 0–3 years of experience in a field medical position within the pharmaceutical industry or as an MSL required, or 3–5 years of relevant medical affairs, clinical research, or related scientific/clinical experience preferred • Associate Director level: minimum 3 years of field medical/pharmaceutical or MSL experience preferred, or 5–7 years of relevant medical affairs, clinical research, or related scientific/clinical experience required • Reside within the assigned territory or within reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from the territory border • Approximately 60–70% travel required • Valid, fully valid, and unrestricted driver’s license required • Adherence to Novartis policies and state and federal laws and regulations • Ability to work within Ethics, Compliance, and Promotional policies • Previous experience in the assigned or related therapeutic area preferred • Company will not sponsor visas for this position • Must be able to successfully complete required initial training
