📋 Description

• Complete approximately 20 weeks of online classroom training • Complete approximately 19 weeks of online hands-on internship/externship training • Learn and apply health information and database management concepts to analyze clinical data, identify trends, and create targeted reports • Develop expertise in managing health information and electronic health record systems • Use EPIC, SQL, Tableau, and Crystal Reports to analyze and report clinical data • Understand and implement system design, testing, security, privacy, and compliance protocols • Prepare for the HIMSS CAHIMS certification exam • Work duplicate/overlay cases using designated reports, work queues, email, and phone communications • Review issues and documentation in logs and databases • Combine cases, move cases, and add known non-duplicates according to established procedures • Review and process information from inbound interfaces and Epic subsystems to ensure data integrity • Prepare reports and monitor completion • Troubleshoot and resolve EPIC and other EHR application issues for healthcare staff • Manage data integrity through error queue management and accurate reporting • Collaborate with clinical teams to improve system efficiency and health information processes • Maintain user accounts, workstations, and system configurations • Lead system testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance • Oversee the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of medical records and patient indexes • Maintain the security and integrity of health information • Collect, quality-control, and disseminate data for comparative databases, statistical reports, disease registries, and procedure registries • Organize and maintain patients’ medical records and health information • Answer requests for information and documents • Update and review medical records, notify healthcare providers of deficiencies, and track outstanding records • Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy policies and regulations • Update medical history and process patient forms, medical histories, and test results • Analyze collected information for correctness and accuracy • Assess health records and insurance claims • Manage and update clinical databases and registries • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Applicants must be residents of California • Must be 18 years or older • Must have a high school diploma or GED certification • Must be a U.S. Citizen/National or have a valid Lawful Permanent Resident Alien; not open to non-citizens or Visa holders • Proficient computer experience with MS Windows and MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Ability to type at least 40 net words per minute • Great attention to detail and strict HIPAA compliance • Analytical and detail-oriented • Able to learn in a self-directed, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment • Commitment to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours • Must complete online classroom training and remote hands-on internship/externship • COVID-19 vaccination required, or approved medical/religious exemption, prior to program acceptance • For on-site internships and externships, must meet host-site immunization requirements • May need tuberculosis testing and drug screening before placement

• Living stipend of $31,200 distributed over approximately 44 weeks • Eligible for monthly benefits reimbursement of up to $600 (participant cost only), with restrictions • Internet stipend of $35/month for 44 weeks
