• Provide technical and project execution oversight for various projects • Execute all mechanical activities of the schedule • Schedule, organize, direct, and review mechanical department resources and activities • Participate in developing new and expanding existing business opportunities • Provide customer support as a technical liaison and support regional business development initiatives • Hire staff, establish goals and expectations, and conduct performance reviews • Direct, develop, supervise, and provide technical guidance to direct reports • Establish and execute departmental operational plans for routine, tools, and resources • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for engineering and technical work • Function as Project Manager and/or Senior Engineer on specific projects • Prepare or supervise engineering proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates • Prepare, review, and check engineering calculations, designs, drawings, and project documents • Certify designs, drawings, and documents as required • Develop, maintain, and upgrade technical standards and specifications • Support recruiting and training efforts across Orbital offices • Ensure departmental and project activities comply with Orbital’s Quality Management system • Lead projects of varying durations and provide leadership in a fast-paced engineering environment • Perform occasional field engineering work and business development travel
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering • PE license is required • Minimum of ten years of prior relevant engineering experience is required • Preference for individuals exposed to heavy industrial environments and marketplaces • Technical knowledge and/or expertise in multiple areas of mechanical engineering, including piping design, pipe stress, rotating equipment, pressure vessels, hydraulic analysis, and drawing standards • Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering teams and/or engineering departments is required • Consulting engineering environment experience preferred • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with clients and engineering personnel • Thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software, including business enterprise and project management tools • US-based candidate • Some field engineering work and business development travel required from time to time
