• Manage day-to-day activities of staff supervised on site or remotely for a client hospital • Focus team efforts and ensure diligent team follow-up • Answer relevant questions, set goals, allocate resources, monitor and trend AR, and maintain staff accountability • Provide hands-on training of staff • Monitor outstanding patient accounts and identify and resolve billing errors and claim denials • Conduct weekly team meetings focused on revenue cycle performance and continued training • Maintain and track SOPs and process improvement processes • Review patient accounts for billing code, patient demographic, and insurance information accuracy • Implement strategies to improve collection rates and reduce outstanding accounts receivable • Follow up on complex payer trends and communicate issues and researched payer-specific guidelines to Management • Generate regular reports on team performance and key metrics, identify potential issues, and develop solutions • Mentor and monitor team performance against key metrics and monthly collection goals • Identify improvement areas and implement action plans for payer and denial challenges • Safeguard confidential patient account information in verbal replies and correspondence • Oversee daily billing and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, BCBS, HMOs/PPOs, commercial insurance, and self-pay accounts • Interpret and follow up on insurance contracts regarding rates, discounts, and filing instructions • Apply federal and state credit collection regulations and guidelines • Handle HR-related issues including new hire orientation, staffing coverage, time-off approvals, timecards, counseling/discipline, and evaluations • Monitor staff productivity • Coordinate agendas and present findings on scheduled conference calls • Research and review patient accounts • Prepare and timely submit Company- and client-required reports
• Minimum five (5) years of general hospital business office billing and collections experience • At least 2 years of Manager level experience • Proficient understanding of medical office or medical terminology training • High level of professionalism displayed by appearance and conduct • Understanding of critical access hospital business office operations • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex billing issues • High school diploma or equivalent • Proficiency in billing software, electronic health records systems, and data analysis tools • Expert level billing and/or collections with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and/or self-pay • Understanding of the entire revenue cycle • Understanding of hospital, clinic, and Business Office Operations • Ability to read and write to perform calculations and prepare reports with supporting documentation • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing • Manual dexterity to enter data into and retrieve data from computer • Ability to sit for long periods of time • Ability to move moderately heavy objects • Less than 10% travel to client site(s) required
