📋 Description

• Support researchers and engineers running scientific and machine learning workloads on Parallel Works platforms • Own incoming support tickets, reproduce problems, resolve issues, and escalate unresolved issues with a diagnosis • Write, debug, and tune Slurm submission scripts, including GPU requests, array jobs, and resource sizing • Build and install user-requested software under senior review • Maintain module and container environments • Onboard new users to access, storage layout, and first jobs • Write user guides and FAQ entries to reduce repeat tickets • Participate in a support coverage rotation, including occasional coverage outside standard United States business hours agreed in advance • Work alongside a senior applications engineer, building software stacks and progressing to second-tier diagnosis

🎯 Requirements

• 2 or more years supporting users on Linux systems, or running scientific or machine learning workloads on a cluster as a practitioner • Comfort on the Linux command line, including building software from source • Writing and debugging batch scripts under Slurm, PBS, or LSF • Proficiency with Python, plus either a machine learning framework or a domain scientific code • Ability to write a complete, correct answer to a user in plain language • United States citizenship • Eligibility for a Secret clearance • Preferred: experience with Spack, EasyBuild, or Lmod • Preferred: multi-GPU or multi-node job experience • Preferred: use of containers such as Apptainer, Singularity, or Docker • Preferred: exposure to profiling or debugging tooling • Preferred: graduate coursework, research computing background, or university/laboratory HPC help desk experience
