📋 Description

• Architect and implement a high-performance OLAP query engine and semantic layer • Design a custom JSON-based OLAP query language and define eBNF grammars • Build a translation layer that converts DSL requests and functional formulas into optimized execution plans • Generate and optimize SQL for ClickHouse, SingleStore, and DuckDB columnar databases • Architect multi-dimensional data model representations for efficient retrieval and aggregation • Implement custom function logic and determine SQL push-down versus application-layer execution • Design and implement distributed multi-dimensional caching using Redis and shared memory systems • Build and maintain high-performance Java microservices using Micronaut or Spring Boot and Project Loom virtual threads • Manage connection pooling, array pooling, and off-heap memory • Tune Java garbage collectors, including ZGC and Shenandoah, for low-latency responses • Leverage AI coding agents and tools across prototyping, development, and debugging • Document architectural decisions, design patterns, and technical specifications • Serve as the primary technical authority on query engine internals and guide complex systems-level work

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years in software engineering focused on backend systems and data infrastructure • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of compilers, ASTs, eBNF, and query planning • In-depth understanding of SQL, query optimization, and columnar database internals • Expert proficiency in Java, including multithreading, asynchronous I/O, networking, and memory management • Proven experience designing distributed caching layers and managing state across microservices • Ability to decompose complex data problems into scalable architectural components • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with a strong tendency to document thoughts and architectural ideas • Rigorous software craftsmanship, including testing, telemetry, and performance benchmarking • Minimum 1 year of experience using AI coding agents to enhance development productivity • Prior experience with ERP, EPM, or General Ledger financial systems is an added plus
