📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end on-premise to public cloud migration roadmap, including wave planning, sequencing, readiness validation, cutover, stabilization, milestones, exit criteria, and success metrics • Lead application portfolio assessment and disposition, building business cases and target architectures for each migration wave • Design and operate secure, multi-account cloud foundations covering landing zones, identity, networking, compute, storage, and Kubernetes • Coordinate infrastructure, application engineering, security, networking, finance, and vendors to keep migration waves on schedule • Retire the on-premise footprint and report progress, risks, and dependencies to executive leadership • Run the cloud platform as an internal product and deliver golden paths for service creation, CI/CD, secrets, observability, and security • Own GitLab source control and CI/CD standards, Kubernetes manifests, and GitOps delivery via Argo CD • Drive infrastructure as code and policy as code, eliminating manual configuration and drift • Advance containerized microservices and serverless patterns on AWS • Measure and improve developer experience using DORA metrics, time-to-first-deploy, platform adoption, and developer feedback • Partner on software-defined workflows using Temporal • Establish the SRE charter, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident response, postmortems, and disaster recovery • Consolidate monitoring into unified observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting using OpenTelemetry and structured logging • Lead observability platform rationalization, telemetry governance, agent fleet management, and cost control • Drive proactive, data-driven observability and reduce MTTD and MTTR • Embed security and compliance by design through IAM, secrets management, encryption, and continuous control monitoring • Own cloud network architecture, including VPCs, segmentation, transit connectivity, private links, DNS, and load balancing • Operate Cloudflare edge protection for WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot management, and DNS • Integrate Okta and Microsoft Entra into platform access patterns • Partner with the CISO organization on cloud security posture, audit readiness, and operational risk • Establish cloud cost transparency, tagging, showback/chargeback, forecasting, and workload unit economics • Manage cloud, observability, and tooling vendor relationships, contracts, commitments, and renewals • Build and develop a global organization spanning cloud engineering, platform engineering, SRE, and network engineering • Set engineering standards through architecture review, code review, and hands-on participation • Define platform/product ownership boundaries and engagement models • Translate technical trade-offs for technical, non-technical, and executive audiences • Champion AI-assisted engineering, AI-driven operations, and enterprise AI, GenAI, and analytics workloads

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive experience in cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering, with at least 5 years leading engineers and engineering managers • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience considered • Demonstrated success leading a large-scale on-premise to public cloud migration or data center exit in a complex, matrixed organization • Proven experience building or operating an internal developer platform at scale, with real adoption to show for it • Ability to read and write Terraform, pipeline configuration, and Kubernetes manifests • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, with EKS strongly preferred, and GitOps delivery patterns • Strong cloud networking depth, including VPC architecture, segmentation, native load balancing, DNS, and hybrid connectivity • Experience with cloud security and edge protection, including WAF and DDoS prevention • Track record of driving adoption and non-trivial organizational change, with comfort operating in ambiguity • Ability to convey complex technical information to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences • Preferred tech stack experience includes AWS, Azure, Kubernetes/EKS, Argo CD, Helm, Lambda, GitLab, Terraform, policy as code, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, ALB/NLB, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Cloudflare, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Power BI, New Relic, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Temporal, ServiceNow, Okta, Microsoft Entra, and Python
