📋 Description

• Own Proper Voltage’s end-to-end freight and logistics function across inbound material flow, outbound customer delivery, packaging validation, and reverse logistics • Establish and manage freight forwarder relationships across the supplier base, especially Asia-origin freight • Negotiate freight rates and service levels and decide when to shift from supplier-managed freight to company-managed forwarding • Own cargo visibility, tracking, customs clearance, and import compliance for critical inbound shipments • Qualify and manage dangerous-goods-certified carriers for commercial and defense customer shipments • Own hazmat documentation, labeling, driver certification requirements, and outbound shipment compliance • Build and manage the customer delivery experience, including scheduling, communication, issue resolution, and transit quality investigations • Coordinate packaging design support and own final validation, including drop-testing sign-off and handling instructions • Coordinate packaging vendor relationships for custom crating, palletization, and protective packaging • Build the RMA and defective-unit return process and coordinate field-service and pickup logistics • Manage the Materials Program Manager and align freight strategy with material readiness • Execute freight strategy within supplier commercial terms and partner with engineering, finance, and customer-facing teams on delivery commitments and cost

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations • Direct ownership of dangerous-goods or other regulated product shipping • Direct experience with hazmat/DG compliance, including carrier certification, documentation, labeling, and driver requirements • Experience negotiating freight forwarder contracts and managing an international freight network, including Asia-origin lanes • Experience building or significantly scaling a logistics function and customer delivery processes from an early stage • Direct people management experience • Ability to operate independently and build processes where none exist • Experience shipping industrial batteries or other energy-storage products preferred • Experience with packaging design and validation for heavy or large-format products preferred • Experience serving defense or government customers preferred • Experience with reverse logistics and field-service coordination preferred • Early-stage startup experience building logistics functions from zero preferred • Familiarity with customs brokerage and cross-border trade compliance preferred • Must be able to work without visa sponsorship • Willingness to travel regularly to contract manufacturers and vendors, with occasional customer site visits
