📋 Description

• Support a federal engagement providing actuarial support for multiemployer Special Financial Assistance services • Lead engagement teams, provide guidance, and support client and team requirements • Study statistical data and create analyses • Create probability and cost estimates for events such as death, natural disasters, or sickness • Calculate likely insurance policy payouts • Generate charts and present and explain information in meetings • Analyze reports to determine next steps • Develop client deliverables meeting contract requirements • Anticipate client needs and formulate solutions • Review deliverables for accuracy and quality • Coach junior staff • Contribute to new business proposals and proposal development • Manage personal and professional development • Develop and document standard procedures for Special Financial Assistance requests • Review plan eligibility and priority groups for SFA applications • Track active, completed, and in-progress SFA cases • Update standard reports and present/certify SFA application review results • Train PBGC staff on SFA application review • Prepare case reporting for internal and external stakeholders • Review post-approval financial and actuarial determinations, including mergers, transfers, and withdrawal liability settlements • Monitor SFA recipient plans for compliance with conditions • Review SFA application completeness, actuarial reports, cash flow projections, assumptions, calculations, and supporting documentation • Identify and assess proposed changes to actuarial assumptions • Review SFA calculations and prepare summaries of financial and actuarial information • Review plan provisions, projected benefits, contribution projections, investment returns, suspended benefit repayments, new entrant assumptions, and historical data • Review census data and produce projected benefits when requested • Prepare reports and formal actuarial certifications of SFA application review results • Provide surge, overflow, litigation, legislative-analysis, training, and financial-statement support as required

🎯 Requirements

• EA & FSA actuarial credentials • Minimum 10 years of pension experience • Minimum 4 years of pension experience since receiving credentials • Experience valuing ongoing single-employer and/or multiemployer defined benefit pension plans • Experience valuing plans with complex features such as cash balance plans or early retirement supplements • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or another business-related field • 3+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation creation, and Internet research tools • Experience identifying and validating pension plan data • Experience performing pension plan calculations • Actuarial credentials such as ASA, EA, or FSA attained or in progress • Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance • Knowledge of statistics, probability, and calculus • Experience with computers and statistical modeling software • Knowledge of business and financial concepts • Organizational skills for managing multiple projects or cases • Python experience preferred • Knowledge and experience with multiemployer defined benefit plans • Knowledge of ERISA, defined benefit plan limitations and guidelines, and plan assets used to pay benefits • Experience with financial analysis, change management, restructuring actuarial analysis, and restructuring negotiations • Experience with census data analysis, standard procedure documentation, and management report tracking • Experience with financial and actuarial analysis, case reporting, contribution projections, data analysis, and actuarial calculations • Ability to support consultations on pension plan administration leading practices • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Mature judgment and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines • Ability to write clearly and succinctly for a wide audience • U.S. Citizenship required • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Access, Outlook, data analytics tools, and Visio • Eligibility for Facility Access Authorization/Employment Authorization • Ability to submit to and qualify for background investigations up to Top Secret or Q clearance • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement
