📋 Description

• Educate patients and caregivers on disease state, medication safety, administration, and storage via phone, video, and other approved channels • Coordinate therapy initiation and ongoing patient support with Sales, Patient Engagement, and Case Manager teams • Address patient-level logistical needs and promote treatment adherence • Identify and address adherence barriers, including diet fatigue, taste preferences, social pressure, school/work constraints, access challenges, and psychosocial factors • Provide proactive follow-up based on program triggers, risk, missed check-ins, or patient-reported concerns • Support transitions such as increasing adolescent independence, transition to adult care, and major life events affecting dietary adherence • Coordinate with caregivers and healthcare providers as appropriate and permitted • Escalate urgent concerns, clinical red flags, and safety issues according to program guidance and reporting procedures • Serve as a PKU resource for Patient Services staff, answer questions, support complex cases, and coach patient communication approaches • Contribute to PKU-specific workflows, scripts, and patient education tools • Share adherence themes and insights with leadership to improve services and patient experience • Document patient interactions accurately and promptly in approved systems • Maintain HIPAA/privacy and PTC Cares program compliance • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence/outcome tracking

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of clinical nutrition/nursing and/or patient counseling experience with demonstrated adherence/behavior change support skills • Active Dietitian/Nursing license and/or Master’s degree preferred • Metabolic Dietician or Pediatric Dietician and/or nursing expertise with practical, real-world application across life stages • Bilingual, as aligned with patient population needs • Experience with PKU and/or inherited metabolic disorders across pediatric and adult populations • Strong competency in patient education, motivational interviewing, and coaching, including video/telephone delivery • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families, and HCPs • High proficiency in handling patient logistics and tracking therapy adherence • Analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines • Excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical delivery process and ability to work compliantly/appropriately within the industry • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills, including ability to support and prioritize multiple projects • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed team environment with internal and external team members • Experience in rare disease patient services, hub services, specialty pharmacy, or patient support programs preferred • Familiarity with EMR/CRM documentation and metric-driven patient outreach • Willingness/ability to travel up to 30% • Candidate location: U.S. West Coast (Pacific Time Zone)
