📋 Description

• Own complex product experiences from discovery through delivery for a new AI-enabled decision-support system • Run structured discovery with end users through interviews, shadowing sessions, and workflow observation • Produce current-state and future-state workflow maps • Translate mission and operational needs into interaction designs • Deliver an interactive clickable prototype covering prioritized queues, enrichment panels, record history, and dashboards • Design the user workspace end to end, including work queues, unified record views, evidence and enrichment panels, decision flows, record history, trend views, and operational dashboards • Apply and contribute to a reusable design system • Design for high-volume repetitive work, keyboard efficiency, scannability, minimal context switching, and low error rates • Design accessible interfaces meeting Section 508 and WCAG requirements • Present AI recommendations, confidence, and supporting evidence so users can evaluate them • Make uncertainty and insufficient evidence visible • Design review, override, audit, and traceability flows • Partner with product and engineering from problem definition through launch • Work directly with front-end engineers and improve the design handoff process • Review builds against designs and maintain quality through implementation • Present design rationale to stakeholders • Iterate using usage feedback, analytics, and acceptance-testing results • Support training and adoption materials • Partner with the existing designer and help establish design practices • Raise the work of designers through review and collaboration

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of product or UX design experience • Portfolio of shipped, complex applications used by people doing real work every day • End-to-end ownership of a comparable system from discovery through a shipped, adopted interface • Ability to set design direction as the most senior designer, without design leadership above the role • Proven discovery and delivery method that can be adapted immediately • Experience designing data-dense, workflow-heavy enterprise interfaces, including role-based views, dashboards, data visualization, queues, and case or record views • Strong visual craft in layout, hierarchy, and typography • Direct user research experience, including interviewing and observing users • Ability to turn ambiguous problems into usable solutions while balancing user, business, and technical needs • Strong prototyping ability in Figma or equivalent • Information architecture and design-system thinking • Ability to design for unfamiliar expert-user domains and work effectively with time-constrained subject-matter experts • Accessibility fluency with Section 508 and WCAG • Comfortable building design practices without an established practice • Hands-on designer; this is not a design management role • Comfortable in a cross-functional agile product team • US citizenship required • Active US Top Secret clearance required • CAC eligibility required from the start • Willingness to travel up to 25% • Preferred: government-user, controlled-environment, review-queue, AI-output, government accessibility, fixed-deliverable, front-end, enterprise, regulated, technically complex, and design-system experience
