📋 Description

• Lead the engineering organization responsible for building and operating core technology platforms • Hire, develop, retain, and organize engineering managers, senior engineers, and individual contributors across product engineering, platform, DevOps, and QA • Set engineering quality, code review, technical craftsmanship, career ladders, performance frameworks, and promotion criteria • Own headcount planning, recruiting, and organizational design with the CTO and HR • Own end-to-end software delivery, including planning, sprint execution, release management, and post-launch operations • Translate roadmap priorities into engineering projects with timelines and resource plans in partnership with Product • Establish engineering metrics such as cycle time, deployment frequency, defect rates, and incident response • Lead major product launches through readiness reviews, rollout plans, monitoring, and post-launch retrospectives • Define architectural standards across software systems, microservices, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations • Drive technical debt reduction, scalability initiatives, and legacy modernization • Govern engineering design reviews and make build-vs-buy-vs-integrate decisions • Partner with Data/AI, Product, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership on infrastructure, delivery, budget, vendors, and cloud costs • Own production reliability, availability, performance, SLAs, incident management, on-call rotations, and post-mortems • Oversee DevOps and infrastructure engineering, including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and deployment tooling • Embed security and compliance requirements, including SOC 2, data privacy, and access control, into the SDLC • Represent engineering in executive forums and report delivery status, risks, and investment needs to the CTO and leadership team

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience • 5+ years in engineering leadership roles managing teams of 30+ engineers across multiple product areas • Proven track record shipping complex, high-availability B2B or enterprise software systems at scale • Strong technical depth in system design, code review, architectural tradeoffs, and incident response • Experience managing engineering managers and building a leadership bench • Expertise in modern cloud-native architecture, including Azure/AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven systems, and CI/CD • Demonstrated ability to improve delivery velocity and engineering quality simultaneously • Strong communication skills, including executive presentation and translating technical complexity into business terms • Experience in logistics, supply chain, freight technology, or a similarly operationally complex, high-transaction-volume domain preferred • Experience with external systems, carrier APIs, ERP/WMS, EDI, load boards, or similar preferred • Experience at a PE-backed or high-growth technology company preferred • Familiarity with data engineering and ML infrastructure preferred • Track record of building engineering cultures that retain and attract top talent preferred • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour break, subject to coverage-based flexibility
