📋 Description

• Lead and grow a team of applied scientists through hiring, coaching, direction-setting, and development • Set the technical and scientific bar • Shape architectures, review designs and evaluations, and work alongside the team on difficult scientific problems • Own AI system readiness end-to-end from problem framing through evaluation, error analysis, efficacy studies, and production monitoring • Choose investment areas across agentic assistants and large-scale legal document review and analysis • Partner with product, engineering, design, customer-facing teams, and legal experts to move ideas from proof of concept to production at scale • Translate technical nuance into actionable decisions for the team, leadership, and customers • Bring customer feedback into the work • Represent Relativity at industry conferences, events, and customer engagements

🎯 Requirements

• Master's or PhD in computer science or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience • At least 6 years of experience in applied AI/ML • At least 1 year of experience as a people leader • Deep applied AI/ML and deployment engineering experience • Experience building production-ready AI systems and owning them through the production lifecycle • Fluency with modern generative AI as a component of larger systems • Machine-learning rigor, including careful evaluation, error analysis, and statistical reasoning • Strong software-engineering judgment and programming skill • Ownership mindset extending beyond the immediate team • Nice to have: interest in legal technology and the justice system • Nice to have: experience hiring and growing a team • Nice to have: experience developing information retrieval systems or agentic harnesses • Nice to have: interest in building reliable AI systems at scale
