📋 Description

• Serve as Render's first Forward Deployed Engineer and work hands-on with strategic customers • Provide concierge-level technical partnership to top accounts across architecture reviews, migration planning, and hands-on delivery • Run scoped onboarding intensives for high-growth startups from intake and success criteria through hands-on execution • Lead the database side of customer engagements, including Postgres architecture, performance tuning, and complex data migrations • Drive activation and expansion in strategic accounts by turning credit grants into durable production adoption • Surface expansion signals from technical work and partner with the account team to convert them into revenue • Own ongoing technical relationships through architecture and health reviews, roadmap sessions, incident follow-up, RCA, and technical escalation • Build the FDE playbook, including qualification criteria, engagement templates, success metrics, and reference architectures • Translate customer friction into prioritized product input for product and engineering • Partner with Account Managers and Customer Engineers to ensure smooth handoffs and long-term coverage

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role • Strong software engineering fundamentals • Ability to write production-quality code and work hands-on-keyboard inside a customer's codebase • Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, including containers, CI/CD, networking, autoscaling, and running real workloads in production • Deep Postgres and database expertise, including schema design, performance tuning, replication, and production data migrations • AI fluency and understanding of LLM application architectures • Excellent communication with startup founders, enterprise platform teams, and executives • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity • Ability to stand up a new function without an existing playbook • Commercial instincts connecting technical wins to expansion, renewal, and revenue • Migration experience from Heroku, AWS, or other clouds onto modern platforms (nice-to-have) • Hands-on experience shipping AI and LLM applications, including RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, and inference workloads (nice-to-have) • Prior experience as the first hire in a role or founding member of a new program (nice-to-have) • Applicants requiring visa sponsorship must receive business authorization; the position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship
