📋 Description

• Lead the end-to-end technical implementation of the new GeoInfo website • Configure CMS core structures, modules/packages, and publishing workflows • Build approved reusable templates and page models using Drupal and/or Wagtail • Support structural build-out and taxonomy alignment of the website information architecture from Level 0 through Level 2 and beyond • Coordinate with technical, infrastructure, and security stakeholders on compliance, accessibility, hosting, and security standards • Execute priority content migration workflows according to the Content Migration Plan • Extract, clean, and ingest legacy static assets including technical PDF reports, scientific images, and downloadable datasets into CMS media libraries • Implement URL routing, 301 redirects, menu navigation, breadcrumbs, and cross-site transition pathways • Lead technical testing of template rendering, responsive UI, editorial workflows, permissions, search indexing, and launch-critical functionality • Integrate third-party institutional systems, APIs, and enterprise databases such as HigherEd ERP/Ellucian Banner • Track, estimate, and document deliverables, backlog stories, bugs, and technical debt using Jira • Deliver a tested, secure, production-ready website populated with validated migrated Level 0 through Level 2 content by target deadlines • Collaborate with project, product management, design, content strategy, data services, and security teams • Support the website through development, migration, system integration, testing, and production deployment toward the Q2 2027 launch milestone

🎯 Requirements

• 3–5+ years of hands-on CMS development and technical implementation experience • Track record delivering multiple production website builds, custom module/model configurations, and large-scale data migrations • Direct proficiency in Drupal (PHP, Composer, Twig) and/or Wagtail (Python, Django) • Deep understanding of modular structured content, reusable templates, atomic page components, custom field configurations, and multi-tier editorial publishing workflows • Experience executing content migration pipelines, database transformation scripts, and digital asset migrations for extensive static repositories • Working knowledge of web QA, functional and cross-browser testing, WCAG accessibility compliance, redirect rule engines, and go-live deployment procedures • Ability to collaborate across software engineering, UI/UX design, content strategy, project management, and executive client stakeholder teams • Experience managing implementation sprints, tickets, pull requests, and bug backlogs using Jira or comparable agile project management tools • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to create technical documentation, architectural decision records (ADRs), and handoff guides • Preferred: New Mexico and West Texas residents willing to travel on-site to Socorro, New Mexico, up to two times during the project lifecycle • Preferred: Direct experience engineering web solutions for higher education, scientific research organizations, geological surveys, or public-sector agencies
