• Support Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture across operations by applying continuous improvement methods to new and existing operations • Identify and drive operational change through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation efforts • Collect data, perform statistical analysis, and map and document processes • Identify process gaps; recommend and implement process improvements • Develop and manage timely continuous improvement plans and transformation plans • Drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development metrics • Manage and complete continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects • Assess continuous improvement initiatives and recommend future activities • Support go-live and steady-state certifications • Identify and support automation projects • Interact regularly with operations management and customers • Develop competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; coach employees on CI, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles • Apply product slotting, labor standards/time studies, layouts, flow optimization, data profiling/analysis, and resource modeling to improve distribution and transportation operations • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events through chartering, pre-work, delivery, follow-up, and sustainment • Coach process owners in Lean methods and operational excellence • Report data and actions against site objectives • Make inventory and/or supply chain strategy recommendations • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the QMS • Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements • Perform Quality Assurance functions for a start-up or expansion • Perform other duties as assigned • Report to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Senior CI Manager and align closely with Operations Management
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and five (5) years or more related work experience in the Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing industry; or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management and three (3) years related experience; if MBA, undergraduate degree in Engineering • Five years or more related work experience in the Warehousing & Transportation and/or Manufacturing industry • Microsoft Office Suite skills, with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio — Expert • Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and database programming (SQL, DAX, etc.) — Intermediate, Preferred • Functional experience developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Management Accountability Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S/Workplace Organization — Beginner, Required • Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions, including slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics — Intermediate, Required • Knowledge of warehouse design tools such as CAD/AutoCAD, slotting tools such as Slot3D, Predetermined Motion and Time Systems such as MOST, Warehouse Management Systems such as Manhattan Scale, and Labor Management Systems — Intermediate, Preferred • Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, warehouse types, warehouse layout/design, Lean methods, material handling solutions, and automation types — Intermediate, Preferred • Knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks, equipment types, transportation design tools, network design tools, transportation management systems, and mapping software — Intermediate, Preferred • Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS — Preferred • American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) and/or Supply Chain Logistics Certification — Preferred • Effective interpersonal skills — Required • Strong verbal and written communication skills — Required • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships across all organizational levels — Required • Flexibility and self-direction in a fast-paced environment — Required • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively — Required • System and change implementation skills — Required • Ability to work independently and as a leader or team member — Required • Ability to manage cross-functional CI projects from beginning to sustained results — Required
