📋 Description

• Lead a team of data-focused engineers building and maintaining a stable, scalable, modern data platform capable of handling petabytes of data • Drive long-term planning and establish scalable execution processes • Contribute to Samsara’s data roadmap and serve as a thought leader in its AI transformation • Monitor novel technological developments relevant to Samsara’s needs • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales globally and across new offices • Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, high-performing international team • Expand the platform to meet new business needs, company growth, geographic coverage, privacy and security requirements, and customer-facing feature development • Collaborate with customer success, product managers, cross-functional teams, scientists, and researchers • Participate in customer interviews and use metrics to improve customer outcomes

🎯 Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or another related technical field • 2+ years of technical people management experience • 5+ years of relevant technical experience with data infrastructure • Experience building and deploying large-scale data platform systems with continuous-improvement feedback loops • Experience leading infrastructure development with cross-functional teams, scientists, and researchers • Solid understanding of agentic development practices • Experience with state-of-the-art data platform technologies • Experience with AWS services including S3, RDS, SQS, DMS, and Dynamo • Spark experience • Experience with data lake formats such as Delta, Hudi, or Iceberg • Python or Scala experience • Experience with container orchestration services such as Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform • Proven innovation and customer-value delivery track record • Ability to build cross-functional consensus and drive cross-team collaboration • MS or PhD in Computer Science or another technical field is ideal/preferred • Flink, Trino/Presto, Go, Airflow, and Dagster are pluses
