📋 Description

• Review clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for specific patient types for hospital data or physician data retrieval, billing, and reimbursement • Validate APC calculations to accurately capture documented diagnoses and procedures for hospitals • Perform documentation review and assessment for accurate clinical data abstraction and regulatory and compliance requirements • Select and sequence ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for designated patient types, including ancillary, recurring, hospital, clinic, physician professional fee, technical fee, and evaluation and management • Review facility records to ensure APC assignments and/or evaluation and management codes reflect documented diagnoses and procedures • Abstract clinical data after documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition • Complete assigned work using appropriate resources and act as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, compliant coding practices, and provider queries • Maintain patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines • Participate in client and Savista meetings, trainings, and conference calls • Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements • Participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials • May interact with client staff and providers

🎯 Requirements

• Candidates must successfully pass pre-employment skills assessment • An active AHIMA credential including RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC credential including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or related specialty credential • Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS code sets • Ability to consistently code at 95% threshold for quality while maintaining client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards • Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to enter data, sort, and filter Excel files • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with internal and external customers • Recent and relevant experience in an active production coding environment strongly preferred • Associate degree in HIM or healthcare-related field, or combination of equivalent education and experience preferred • Experience using RCX Cerner or Optum is a plus • Academic, split-share, and critical care experience preferred
