📋 Description

• Own the Android-based terminal experience end to end, including checkout, payments, returns, and everyday cashier and store-staff workflows • Lead discovery with cashiers and store staff through interviews, remote usability testing, and in-store visits when possible • Design for retail constraints including long lines, interruptions, varying staff experience, and hardware reliability • Partner with product managers to define requirements and challenge assumptions • Collaborate with the Terminal engineering team to bring designs to life and understand platform and hardware capabilities • Help drive the AI-assisted design and build loop • Extend the shared design system to the terminal with the lead designer • Participate in roadmap conversations and post-launch iteration • Contribute to web and back-office design when needed • Bring a point of view, not just execution

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of product/UX design experience in a startup or fast-moving environment • Experience designing and shipping mobile or tablet apps, with a strong grasp of native platform patterns • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work, including research, problem framing, and shipped product • Strong visual and interaction design skills • Skilled researcher able to plan discovery, synthesize findings quickly, and turn ambiguous problems into clear design direction • Experience partnering closely with PMs and pushing back constructively • Systems thinking, with care for patterns, consistency, and scalable designs • Comfortable working alongside engineers in a fast-moving R&D environment and understanding implementation constraints • Proficient with Figma and Claude • Able to prototype quickly to test assumptions and communicate behavior
