📋 Description

• Own delivery across three product lines, including roadmap tracking, release coordination, cross-team dependencies, and risk escalation • Establish a single source of truth for engineering delivery visibility and accountability • Build and manage a disciplined incident and on-call program across time zones, including postmortem follow-through • Define, instrument, and automate engineering KPI reporting, including cycle time, lead time for changes, deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR, escaped defects, uptime against SLOs, and team health • Translate engineering signals into actionable narratives for leadership • Partner with the Director of Product on capacity modeling, roadmap commitments, and trade-offs • Lead staffing and capacity planning across all three product lines • Partner with Product and Finance on headcount forecasting • Confirm projects are fully staffed before work begins and stop projects that are not fully staffed • Directly manage and develop engineering managers and leads • Own hiring, onboarding, and performance management • Build a consistent management layer across geographies • Drive adoption and governance of agentic coding tools across planning, implementation, and review • Establish standards for human review, code provenance, security review, IP, and data handling • Quantify the returns of AI-assisted development with the executive AI sponsor • Balance fully loaded costs against delivery outcomes such as cycle time and quality • Report delivery impact through shipped work, cycle time, quality, and AI ROI • Return VP of Engineering capacity to architecture and MVP development

🎯 Requirements

• 10 or more years in software engineering, including 3 or more years at Director level or in senior engineering management • Experience owning delivery across multiple concurrent products • Proven leadership of distributed global teams, including managing managers • Real technical depth, with experience shipping software and independently evaluating system design and technical risk • Rigorous program and operations management • Hands-on GitHub experience, including Projects, Actions, and workflow design • Migration leadership strongly preferred • Working fluency with AI coding tools and a clear point of view on their impact on review practices and quality control • Fluency in engineering metrics, including instrumentation, interpretation, and anti-gaming practices • Executive communication skills translating engineering execution into business outcomes • Track record of peer partnership with a Director or Head of Product • Scale-up growth experience preferred • Experience with blended FTE and contractor staffing models preferred • GovTech familiarity preferred • Background in multiple domains preferred
