📋 Description

• Develop and execute public-facing national, regional, and state communications strategy around SEIU’s unionwide priorities and campaigns • Lead development and execution of communications across SEIU’s organizing priorities, focusing on worker-centered campaign communications • Build and develop a team of campaign communicators to execute priority campaigns • Write strategic communications plans and oversee talking points and campaign materials, op-eds, background pieces, fact sheets, press kits, leaflets, brochures, and other collateral • Collaborate with digital strategy, communications, and design teams to produce multimedia materials • Create and share communications strategy, messaging, and materials with IU Division and campaign staff • Drive engagement of workers and stakeholders and build awareness of SEIU’s organizing demands • Coordinate strategic communications plans and goals as part of the communications department’s senior leadership team • Support internal and cross-sector movement building • Provide leadership as a key member of the national organizing communications team • Directly supervise individuals, campaign communications managers, staff, and consultants, if applicable • Plan, budget, and manage projects in coordination with divisions, departments, and campaign leaders • Prioritize growth and development of communications staff through training, feedback, reviews, and career development • Perform other duties as required to assist the International Union • Travel frequently with overnight stays and work long and irregular hours as required

🎯 Requirements

• Five to seven years of related work experience or combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities • Knowledge of unions and other advocacy organizations preferred • Priority given to candidates with real-world communications and organizing experience, regardless of formal education • Must be available for frequent travel with overnight stays required • Long and irregular hours • Knowledge and ability to develop and execute communications strategy • Ability to write strategic communications plans, talking points, campaign materials, op-eds, background pieces, fact sheets, press kit materials, leaflets, brochures, and other collateral materials • Ability to work with digital strategy, communications, and design teams to produce multimedia materials • Clear and effective planning, budgeting, and project management abilities • Ability to coordinate with divisions, departments, and campaign leaders • Ability to manage, train, provide feedback to, and support the development of communications staff • Ability to act and organize time with independence • Ability to handle multiple priority projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines • Ability to represent the International Union with independent judgment and a high level of professionalism
