📋 Description

• Implement and operate cross-region replication using Amazon DynamoDB Global Tables • Codify infrastructure in Terraform or CDK • Build observability for replication health, including lag metrics, consistency checks, alarm thresholds, and runbook automation • Author and execute failover and failback runbooks • Run game-days using AWS Fault Injection Service • Measure and report against RTO and RPO targets • Implement KMS cross-account replication, IAM service principals for replication roles, and secrets and parameter strategies for region-local dependencies • Support monolith-to-microservices data extraction by building CDC pipelines, validating data integrity, and owning cutover sequences • Pair with application engineers on connection-string abstraction, retry and idempotency patterns, and graceful degradation during region failover • Write design documents and runbooks for client-team handover

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in production database engineering on AWS • Hands-on responsibility for payments, banking, brokerage, or comparable financial-services workloads • Deep production experience with DynamoDB and at least two of Aurora MySQL, Cassandra, ElastiCache (Redis or Valkey), DocumentDB, and Neptune • Working knowledge of at least two additional listed database technologies • Production experience configuring and operating DynamoDB Global Tables for multi-region deployments • Experience handling replication conflicts, regional outages, replication delays, and consistency or version-skew issues • Strong Terraform or CDK skills, including building multi-region modules from scratch • Experience with CDC tooling such as DMS, DynamoDB Streams, Kafka Connect, or Debezium • Knowledge of schema drift, ordering guarantees, and replay • Linux and networking fundamentals, including VPC, Transit Gateway, peering, and DNS • IAM and KMS proficiency • Solid written communication • Ability to operate in a regulated client environment • English proficiency at the required level specified in the application form • Legal right to work in the country where the role is based • AWS Database Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate / Professional certifications are nice to have
