📋 Description

• Conduct multiple telephonic hearings each day • Take testimony and make evidentiary rulings • Develop complete hearings and control the course of hearings while maintaining judicial temperament and decorum • Review case files and/or hearing records in preparation for hearings • Ensure proper legal notice to parties regarding hearing time, date, place, and issues • Draft and issue timely final decisions applying Federal and Arizona law to hearing facts • Respond immediately to work-related communications throughout the workday • Complete a high volume of cases within prescribed timelines

🎯 Requirements

• Excellent time management skills • Ability to complete a high volume of cases within tightly prescribed timelines • Ability to write clearly and plainly about complex legal issues • Extensive working knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply, rules of evidence, administrative procedure, judicial and legal ethics, and due process requirements • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, federal and state laws and regulations applicable to administrative programs • Understanding of human behavior and psychology • Working knowledge of word processing and communications software, with ability to learn proprietary applications • Active listening skills • Ability to quickly analyze and synthesize complex information from various sources • Ability to diplomatically control and minimize conflict between parties • Experience working as an administrative hearing officer • Graduation from an accredited undergraduate university or college • Graduation from an accredited law school • Located in Arizona • Membership in and maintenance of good standing with any state Bar Association • Availability Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Arizona time • Ability to work remotely using own computer/equipment if located outside Arizona • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school • Professional experience serving as an Administrative Hearing Officer or conducting administrative hearings • Experience conducting telephonic hearings, applying rules of evidence and due process, making evidentiary rulings, and issuing written decisions
