📋 Description

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including reporting, validation, and analysis of financial statements • Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and lead variance analysis for leadership • Partner with the staff accountant on AP, AR, ASC 842, accruals, and reconciliations • Lead multi-state payroll across 8+ states, ensuring accurate wages, tax withholdings, and compliance • Oversee HRIS operations, including employee data integrity and onboarding/offboarding workflows • Own compliance for business licenses, health permits, food handler certifications, sales tax registrations, and recurring regulatory obligations • Manage payroll tax filings and registrations during state expansion • Oversee benefits enrollment, deductions, and reporting with HR • Identify inefficiencies and improve scalable accounting and compliance systems • Advise leadership, managers, and employees on accounting, payroll, and compliance matters

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in accounting, with progressive responsibility and time spent owning financial statements and close • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field • CPA strongly preferred • Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, with hands-on experience across the full accounting cycle • Experience with multi-state payroll and regulatory compliance • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with comfort building models and working with large datasets • Highly organized with strong attention to detail • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities • Strong communicator who can explain accounting and compliance topics clearly to non-technical partners • Demonstrated leadership and ownership, with the ability to build and improve how work gets done
