📋 Description

• Own end-to-end technical delivery of platform initiatives from discovery and design through implementation, rollout, and operational readiness • Design and build scalable, observable, and maintainable shared platform capabilities, APIs, gateways, and backend services • Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies, including AI agents and automated workflows • Turn promising AI approaches into safe, reusable platform tools • Lead technical design reviews • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and actionable feedback • Deliver self-service tooling and automation to eliminate manual and operationally expensive work • Drive continuous improvement across production systems • Leverage GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and agentic coding tools to accelerate delivery and automate routine technical tasks • Build and operate systems across Ruby/Rails, Python, Rust, React/TypeScript, GraphQL, and cloud infrastructure • Evolve platforms so AI agents can discover capabilities, execute actions, monitor outputs, and recover from failures independently • Integrate emerging tools and methodologies into production environments

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • Typically 5+ years designing, building, and operating complex production systems • Experience in platform, infrastructure, backend, or developer tooling environments • Deep experience with distributed architectures, microservices, APIs, and cloud infrastructure • Proficiency in Ruby/Rails, Python, or Rust • Hands-on experience using and implementing modern AI-assisted engineering workflows, including AI agents, LLM integrations, or Copilot • Proven experience leading complex technical projects end-to-end • Ability to communicate tradeoffs clearly and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority • Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer or office equipment, and communicate effectively • Experience with GraphQL technologies, API gateways, React, and TypeScript • Exposure to e-commerce, personalization, or large-scale retail engineering ecosystems • Track record developing self-service platform tools that safely expose infrastructure to AI agents • Contributions to open-source software, industry whitepapers, or technical communities focused on developer tooling and platform engineering
