• Serve as the primary contact for learners from matriculation through program completion • Manage a pipeline of learners through coaching, motivation, mentoring, barrier removal, issue resolution, completion strategies, and progress monitoring • Help learners clarify decision points and identify solutions aligned with their motivations and goals • Provide personalized interactions, milestone outreach, and behavior-based outreach to support educational goals and overcome obstacles • Develop academic plans covering program requirements and the most direct path to completion • Leverage advising tools, systems, software applications, program analytics, and outreach protocols • Build learner relationships and encourage success and engagement • Help learners navigate program and plan changes, including Capella-initiated changes • Explore alignment between educational and financial plans and degree completion • Provide resources and refer learners to university support services • Assess learner needs and support informed pathway decisions and progress toward goals • Proactively contact at-risk learners and mitigate barriers affecting persistence, success, and completion • Coach learners through disruptive life events and challenges and provide situation-specific options • Respond through phone, voicemail, chat, email, casework, and social media • Coordinate with faculty, academic leadership, chairs, and learner-facing teams to resolve issues and conflicts • Maintain accurate documentation of learner interactions • Serve as a subject matter expert on programs, processes, and policies • Monitor and communicate trends affecting learner persistence, success, and completion • Support program, process, and policy training for faculty and staff • Identify improvement opportunities and gaps and help create solutions with stakeholders • Build professional relationships across the business • Participate in projects, departmental initiatives, cross-functional training, and research on higher-education trends
• Prefer two to four years of professional experience using advanced coaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills • Experience working with adult learners and/or faculty preferred • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required • Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred • Doctoral degree preferred for Doctoral Advisors • Specific disciplines such as student development, college student personnel management, education psychology, counseling psychology, social work, student affairs, or higher education preferred based on assignment • Strong coaching, critical thinking, problem-solving, relationship-building, influencing, conflict-management, and judgment skills • Ability to understand key metrics and use self-service reporting and tools to monitor and share data • Ability to adapt quickly, innovate, manage sensitive and confidential information, and work in a fast-paced changing environment • Ability to prioritize learner needs and work effectively with diverse populations • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to communicate through varied channels and systems • Foundational understanding of educational and career advising • Ability to learn new computer software applications quickly • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook • Must work significant time at a computer and on the phone using a headset • Must be flexible in work hours/schedule to accommodate learner needs • Position may require more than 40 hours per week during peak periods • Must be able to travel 0–10% of the time • Must be able to lift 20 lbs • Must effectively communicate up and down the management chain, cope with stressful situations, and maintain regular dependable attendance and punctuality
