📋 Description

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development for software engineers • Manage 2–3 cross-functional product pods of engineers, product managers, and designers • Contribute to product organization success across Engineering, Product Management, and Design • Provide technical direction and develop engineers’ technical leadership capabilities • Interview and recruit engineers • Develop engineering culture and processes as the organization grows • Drive business outcomes through cross-functional collaboration • Improve team performance and work quality; make major design decisions • Hire, nurture, and oversee an engineering team • Lead a team managing a critical production service, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call operations • Moderate design discussions and cultivate a culture of candid, constructive feedback • Collaborate across technical domains on complex projects • Drive tactical and strategic planning across multiple time horizons

🎯 Requirements

• Substantial experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, including performance evaluations and career development • Experience as a people manager; the company cannot provide training and support for someone new to management • Experience building and operating highly available, high-performance production services • Expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response • Highly technical management ability, including independently evaluating complex technical tradeoffs • Experience developing in Go • Ability to give and process constructive feedback and work independently • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup
