The Base is a Grade-A office and co-working building in the centre of Warrington that provides modern, flexible office space, co-working areas, and meeting/event facilities for start-ups, SMEs and larger businesses—particularly in digital technology, advanced engineering and manufacturing. It operates as a business hub offering space for 2–20+ people, community networking, and an on-site business support programme (marketing, tax, legal, R&D and innovation advice) to help tenant businesses grow and collaborate.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of and play a key role in shaping the controlling function • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and derive appropriate business measures • Prepare budgets, forecasts, reports, and liquidity overviews for internal and external stakeholders • Maintain and implement monthly reporting, including commentary on BWA (business management reports) • Actively support upcoming annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB), including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement • Support ongoing financial accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting • Review, code, and post incoming and outgoing invoices with a high degree of accuracy • Perform intercompany reconciliations and settlements between entities • Administer payment transactions • Coordinate with tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities • Work directly with the CFO • Establish reporting and controlling structures across multiple entities

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in controlling, ideally in a multi-entity environment or in a role involving broad ownership and responsibility • Strong controlling expertise, including deriving KPIs, forecasts, and business measures from financial data and independently building reporting structures • Solid experience in accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting • Experience with detailed invoice review and coding • Sound understanding of financial statements prepared under the German Commercial Code (HGB); experience supporting annual financial statements is preferred • Proficiency in DATEV is required • Advanced Excel skills • Quick learner with a high degree of independence and a strong eye for detail • Business-fluent German and English, both written and spoken • Initial experience with BI tools and building reporting structures from the ground up is a plus • Background in hospitality, real estate, or a multi-entity setup is a plus • Interest in automation and process optimization, including API integrations and automated bookkeeping, is a plus
