📋 Description

• Provide support for 9 Tort Attorneys in New Jersey Staff Legal offices • Work in a high-volume, paperless insurance defense environment • Draft discovery responses, pleadings, motions, affidavits, correspondence, reports, briefs, memorandums, summaries, and supporting documentation • Prepare correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, and other documents using appropriate software • Create and edit court documents consistent with New Jersey court requirements • Support attorneys on cases and serve as liaison with clients, claims, local courts, and counsel • Maintain a minimum billing requirement of 1100 hours per year • Draft pleadings, motions, responses to discovery requests, and targeted discovery activities • Support PIP staff with typing and document filing as needed • Follow up with clients to obtain information and discovery verification signatures • Communicate with claim partners to obtain information needed to respond to discovery • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel via phone and email • Draft background facts and applicable law supporting discovery motions • Compile and organize exhibits and relevant documents for motions and trial • Produce large volumes of documents to opposing counsel and experts via links, CDs, and zip drives

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department • Paralegal Certification is beneficial but not required • Minimum of 1 year of trial preparation experience is preferred but not required • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated success organizing large volumes of documents and information during discovery, motion preparation, and trial preparation • Experience in a high-volume litigation environment • Experience in document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendar maintenance, and data maintenance for clients • Strong working knowledge of New Jersey court systems • Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills • Proficiency with case management software • Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint) • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment • Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys • Ability to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF, and JPG formats • For the 100% remote position, high-speed broadband cable internet with minimum upload/download speeds of 3Mbps/30Mbps • Internet provider-supplied device must be hardwired to the Hartford-issued router and/or computer
