📋 Description

• Own performance tuning on the StarRocks serving layer using AI-assisted query profiling to identify and fix slow query patterns. • Build and harden data pipelines feeding government cloud investigations. • Become the second engineer able to independently operate and troubleshoot the serving layer, reducing single-point-of-failure risk. • Use AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to triage production issues and deliver root-cause fixes. • Review incidents, infrastructure work, and compliance milestones in weekly team syncs. • Provide async daily updates on pipeline health, tickets, and blockers. • Participate in sprint-based planning and own assigned workstreams. • Conduct post-incident retrospectives and update runbooks. • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering and Product teams to maintain parity between government cloud and commercial platforms.

🎯 Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required due to government cloud data access requirements. • Hands-on experience operating distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems such as StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar. • Experience with query tuning and performance optimization at scale. • Experience owning data pipeline reliability and incident response. • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code review, and documentation. • Ability to independently take ownership of unfamiliar production infrastructure. • Ability to use AI-assisted research and code exploration to ramp quickly. • Willingness and ability to take on-call responsibility with minimal oversight. • AI fluency is a baseline expectation and will be evaluated during interviews. • Ability to work effectively in a high-intensity, high-ownership environment with ambiguity and frequent change.
