📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality, engaging online instruction in asynchronous undergraduate and graduate courses • Connect learning experiences to workforce skills and professional advancement • Foster supportive and inclusive learning environments for adult learners • Prioritize student learning, achievement, and timely feedback • Maintain strong communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries • Ensure academic integrity and uphold university policies • Collaborate with academic support teams to enhance student experience • Develop and improve courses and innovative teaching practices with instructional designers, assessment specialists, and other experts • Develop and improve course materials including texts, media, assessment tools, and other instructional modalities • Review, support, and mentor the instructional quality of associate faculty • Lead continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional design • Collaborate with student success, student affairs, library, writing center, access and wellness, academic advising, and career services • Support students’ sense of connection to the university in an online environment • Attend and actively participate in department, college, and university meetings • Engage in shared governance activities and committees • Participate in search and hiring committees • Support accreditation and continuous improvement efforts • Mentor and support faculty and staff • Collaborate on university student success and other initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• Earned master’s degree in Emergency Management, Security Management, Business Continuity, Organizational Management, Public Administration, or related field • 3 years professional experience in homeland security, emergency management, or continuity • Earned industry-based credentials, including FEMA, state, or IAEM certifications in emergency management or continuity areas • Evidence of promise or experience demonstrating adequate training, depth of knowledge in a particular specialty, and capacity to undertake high-quality teaching and service • Familiarity with best practices in teaching and learning, including curriculum development and assessment strategies, especially in virtual environments • Collaborative and student-centered approach to leadership and instructional support • Ability to create inclusive, engaging, and supportive online learning environments • Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with adult learners • Ability to align academic content with workforce needs and industry trends • Skill in using educational technology and learning management systems • Ability to interpret student success data and improve teaching practices and curricular design • Commitment to a student-centered Culture of Care • Ability to balance teaching, service, and administrative responsibilities • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational and time management skills • Preferred: earned doctorate and 5 years applied professional experience in homeland security, emergency management, or continuity • Preferred: experience teaching in on-ground and online higher education, faculty development, instructional design, and continuous improvement • Preferred: experience working with adult, non-traditional, and post-traditional learners • For Doctoral Lead Faculty: earned doctorate in a related discipline, qualitative or quantitative research experience, and at least 3 years of graduate-level teaching experience • Visa sponsorship is not available
